Portrait of The Dreaming Siren, an inspiring artist, writer, and rollerblader.

About The Dreaming Siren

Born in Venezuela and inspired by a horizon hidden by the endless Andes mountains, a curious and adventurous child emerged. A child that daydreamed of getting lost in majestic mountains in search of ancient cities, beautiful creatures, exotic plants, and sparkling waterfalls. To this day, I’m transported to those places through my art, and my childhood wonder lives on through my paintings.

My Israeli and Spanish parents endowed me with a culture rich in art and dance. The name “The Dreaming Siren” comes from my free-spirited nature, the ancestral calling to explore all possibilities of creative expression in dreams and in life, and my love for the ocean, dance, and the mythology of sirens and mermaids.

My journey into creative exploration began through sketching. I learned the basics of drawing and how to use watercolors and acrylic paint among talented artists in my family, and in a drawing class in Venezuela. Sketching transported me to spaces of deep tranquility and peace. As a reserved child, I would often go off into my own world and allow my imagination spill onto paper.

When our family moved to the United States, we settled in Miami. The swaying of the palm trees, the glowing sunsets, and the clear blue ocean won over my mermaid heart. Miami is where I began my creative journey into dance. I performed and taught Egyptian dance and choreography. Through the union of music and movement, my body became the creative outlet and dancing became a form of catharsis.

In 2013, I revisited a passion for dream exploration. Throughout my life I’ve been able to awaken within my dreams. While in college, I learned that the hybrid state of being awake while asleep was called “lucid dreaming”. I read everything I could get my hands on regarding the subject. I practiced lucid dreaming daily and increased the skills to become aware within my dreams.

Awakening within dreams and using dream control to explore the subconscious mind led me to transcendental experiences. I went on to study psychology, and explored the world of dreaming even further. I became what is known as a “oneironaut”. Dream exploration became a source of inspiration. I could explore my creative potential and manipulate the dream environment. In 2019, I authored my first book, The Lucid Traveler.

Guided by a family of talented artists, I learned to express my passion for life through various mediums of art which included water colors, acrylic paints, pencils, and digital art. Applying many of the same skills I had acquired while painting on canvas and through sketching, I learned to create digital art.

The name, “The Dreaming Siren” reflects my diverse background in dream studies, writing, and my passion for creating art. Through sketching, drawing, and painting, I bring to life a fusion of music and form, drawing inspiration from the realms of dreams and everything that exists in between. My name is Deb. I am The Dreaming Siren! Welcome to my world that I hope you will become a part of.

We are slaves of time when we live in the past or the future. Liberation is in the present moment.
